Abstract: For the first time the graphic-orthographic rendering of the Jot sound in the large body of the old Ukrainian writing samples is investigated. The author considers separate chronological levels and traces the development of usus in rendering of the sound by letters and signs in confessional and printed codices, as well as act sources, of the 2nd half of XIV – beginning of XVII cent. The graphical-orthographical comparative and statistical analysis of the spelling is performed. Keywords: sound, letter, offset letter, letter variant, diacritic mark. Cite: |
