Abstract: The history of the creation of the literary-historical chronicle in verse of P. S. Moratschevsky “Choomaks, or Ukraine since 1768” is given in the article. The author finds out three redactions of the work – of 1848 – 1849, 1852 and 1863. An earlier unknown investigation of V. P. Naumenko “What was the Ukrainian writer Khvylymon Haluzenko?” ([1916]) carried out after the hand-written text of 1st and 2nd redaction of the “Choomaks” is submitted to publication.
