Old Believer Pochaiv books from the fonds of the Department of Old Printed Books and Rare Editions of V. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine: the exemplars peculiarities and the history of existence

Abstract: In the second half of the XVIII century Greek Catholic Typography of the Pochaiv Assumption monastery actively collaborated with the Old Believers. As the result of this collaboration a number of publications was edited. The origin of each copy from ancient libraries, their staying in convolutes (especially in original ones) are analyzed, considerable attention is paid to the bindings of these books, marginalia as evidence of the existence of the book copies in history are quoted and analysed. A list of editions and the copies of analyzed Old Believers’ Pochaiv books in the Old and Rare Books Department of the V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine is applied with notifying ciphers and ancient proveniencia. Old Believers editions from the Typography of the Pochaiv Assumption monastery are an original phenomenon in the history of printing in Ukraine, as they are a prime example of synthesis of traditional printing in Moscow of pre-Nikonian period and Ukranian book of the XVIII century.
