Yukhymets H., Tsynkovska I. Title pages of Ukrainian Cyrillic editions of the 17th century: typology and artistic peculiaritiesAbstract: At first the detailed art critisized analysis of titles in Ukrainian Cyrillic editions of XIIth century from the funds of the Section of old and rare books in V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine is carried out with the purpose to study their types and art characteristics. The main features in types of compositions are determined. Plots and images, iconography, allegories and decor are analysed. The main differences about how Ukrainian engravers approach the decoration of the title illustration is defined. The study notes that the title is an extremely important element of decoration books by the method of graphic art for many authors, customers and engravers, who have been working with Ukrainian book during the XIIth century. Customers and authors, who created the title often entrust this work for famous engravers of that time, who were the best masters on the European level.
