Ukrainian diplomatic archive as a source for the research of a consular service history

Abstract: In the article the author analyzes a concept of a "diplomatic archive", surveys the specifics of the Ukrainian diplomatic archive organization, characterizes its composition and contents with a view to its significance as a source for the research of the history of diplomatic and consular service. Reviewed is the specifics of the institutional aspect of the Ukrainian diplomatic archive, specified are three constituents of the archive: industrial state archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; historical diplomatic archive deposited at unspecialized archives; diplomatic archive of Ukrainian emigration deposited at foreign archives. Analyzed are the details of the documental complexes compiled during the conduct of the activities of the foreign service and its organs in 1917–1923. These documental complexes, deposited at the fonds of the Central State Archive of Supreme Bodies of Power and Government of Ukraine, State Archive of Kyiv Oblast, State Archive of Kyiv and other archival institutions, constitute a source for the study of the history of Ukrainian diplomacy
