Epistolary of the Bibikov family concerning the events in the Caucasus of the mid-19th century (based on the materials of the Institute of Manuscript of V. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine)

Abstract: Official’s biography is primarily a statement of the positions he occupied and functional solutions he made. D. H. Bibikov’s personality is known to the public mostly as one of the governor-general of Kyiv, Volyn and Podillia. In the paper, the researchers have also mentioned his military exploits and work at leading positions. However, the details and specifics of family relationship, closely intertwined with the events in the country, remain hidden behind the curtain of the history. The Bibikov family generations’ participation in the military-political confrontations in the Caucasus is one of such occurrences that became known thanks to the research into their epistolary heritage
