Radchenko Anna, Vakarenko Olena Enriching library collections in Ukraine: impact of "Scentific Book"Section: Studies in Spesial Historical Disciplines Abstract: The goal of the research. Evaluation of the contribution of two general academic book projects of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, “Scientific Book” and “Scientific Book. Young Scientists” to enriching collections of state libraries. The main quantitative indicators of the functioning of two book projects are considered. The first project has been operational since 2001, while the latter emerged in 2009 as a form of support for young scientists, providing them with priority opportunities for publishing the results of their scientific work. Since both projects are implemented using budgetary funds, the released books are subject to free distribution based on the orders of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. This ensures not only the distribution of mandatory copies of publications, but also the enrichment of the collections of the main scientific and specialized libraries of the state, as well as the libraries of higher education institutions, research institutions, and other subordinate bodies of executive power. Methodology. All calculations presented in the article are based on distribution orders and are grouped and analyzed using statistical methods by years, departments, and recipients of publications. Scientific novelty. During the existence of these projects, their role in enriching library fonds was investigated for the first time. During this time, a total of 595 titles have been published, with a total circulation of 169,100 copies. 10.26% of them were received by the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine and the Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv, while 9.29% went to higher education institutions, with the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” being the main recipients. Conclusions. The 20 years of systemic publishing activities driven by the Scientific Publishing Council of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine were marked with clearly formulated rules and principles. These efforts fostered sufficient reinforcement of the fonds and catalogs of the central public libraries and the senior academic institutions with high-quality Ukrainian scientific literature.
